How to use the new nabtrade platform

The new nabtrade platform is secure, easy and convenient. We’ve got helpful instructions to guide you through the basics.

Site guide

The site guide will help you learn how to navigate and use the new nabtrade platform. When you login, across the top you will see seven sections.

Getting started

Here are some helpful tips on how to get started with the new nabtrade platform.

Click here to log in.

Alternatively, you can click Login in the top right-hand corner of the site, or click Go to login at the top of the page.

To log in, use your existing nabtrade or NAB User ID and password.  

  • For most NAB customers this is your NAB Identification Number and is the same number you use to log into Internet Banking. This can be found on the back of your personal bank cards. 
  • If you are not a NAB bank customer, or opened your nabtrade account without using your NAB account details, your User ID/username will have been emailed to you when you opened your nabtrade account.

To reset your password, click Forgot your password on the log in page and follow the prompts.  

Portfolio

Under Portfolio, you can view and access your portfolios, total wealth, and generate statements and reports. 

The default Portfolio page shows you a quick summary of your nabtrade portfolio/s across domestic and international holdings and cash. You can also see the day's percentage change and gain/loss for the day at a portfolio level, and also by domestic and international holdings. Here you will be able to access your trading accounts and holdings, where previously you would have found this under ‘Accounts’ on the old website.

Markets 

Under Markets, you can view Markets Today as well as indices information.

Navigate to Markets in the main navigation and click on Markets Today to view a snapshot of what’s happening in the current market.

  • Featured insights: Here you can find the latest news and articles from Australia and around the world.
  • Performance: This chart shows the performance of the Australian and Global indices. 
  • Market movers: Here you can find a list of the most active stocks, as well as the top gainers and top losers. Use the dropdown in the top right-hand corner of the widget to switch between different indices.
  • Commodities: Here you can see the price changes for the various commodities.
  • Currencies: Here you can find today's exchange rates for different currencies.  Use the dropdown at the top of the widget to switch exchange rates. 
  • ASX announcements: Here you can see recent ASX announcements.

Here you can find the latest news and articles from nabtrade and NAB, as well as industry experts such as Livewire, Firstlinks and Morningstar.

Navigate to Markets in the main navigation and click on Indices to see how the global indices have performed.

Trading

Under Trading, you can place an order, view your orders and access your watchlists.

  • To place an order, you can:
    • Click on Trading in the main navigation and navigate to Place an order;
    • Click on Trade in the top right-hand corner of the site;
    • Click on Buy and Sell on a company page;
    • Click on Buy and Sell from the action menu in your holdings
  • Once you land on the order pad, complete the required fields and click review order. 
  • Complete the order pad with your desired instructions and click Review order.
  • If your order is correct, the next step is to click Place order.
  • In the new nabtrade platform, you do not need to enter your Trading PIN. For more information, visit our FAQ on the removal of the Trading PIN.

To view all open orders and order history, navigate to Trading in the main navigation and click on Order status.

 

  • To access watchlists navigate to Trading in the top navigation and click on Watchlists.
  • You can also add a security to a watchlist by:
    • Clicking Add to watchlists at the top of the Company page;
    • Clicking Add to watchlists from the actions menu on Portfolio and Markets Today.
  • Once you land on Watchlists, add a security to a watchlist to monitor its performance. 
  • Click on Create new watchlist to create a new watchlist or click on Manage watchlist to add a security to an existing watchlist.

To access IRESS ViewPoint, navigate to Trading in the main navigation and click on IRESS ViewPoint

Transfer & Pay

Under Transfer & Pay, you can make a funds transfer, manage your payees, make a foreign currency transfer and manage sweep transfers.

  • To place a funds transfer, navigate to Transfer & Pay in the main navigation and click on Make a funds transfer.  
  • To transfer cash between nabtrade accounts or from your linked NAB bank account, click transfer
  • To transfer cash to an external account, click Pay anyone. Next, select the from and to accounts, complete the required fields and click confirm. If you need to add a new payee, click on Add new payee
  • When transferring cash to a non nabtrade account, you will be prompted to enter a security code. This will be sent to your registered mobile number. For more information, visit our FAQ on why SMS Security is replacing Trading PIN.

  • To manage payees navigate to Transfer & Pay in the main navigation and click on My payees.
  • Here you can view your payees and add new payees. 

To transfer foreign currency, navigate to Transfer & Pay and click on Foreign currency
 

  • To set up or manage a cash sweep, navigate to Transfer & Pay in the main navigation and click on Sweep transfers.
  • Click Set up a sweep to automatically move available sums in your nabtrade Cash Account into your High Interest Account.

Tools

Under Tools, you can access a range of trading and educational tools, including alerts, Global Scanner, Virtual Portfolio, Estimated Dividend Calendar and nabtrade Academy. 

  • To access Alerts navigate to Tools in the main navigation and click on Alerts
  • You can set stock alerts by:
    • Clicking Add to alerts at the top of the Company page;
    • Clicking Add to alerts from the actions menu on Portfolio, Watchlists and Markets Today
  • Once you land on Alerts, click on Create new alert and choose whether you would like to set an alert on your favourite companies to monitor their performance, or set an alert on the market, an indice or any of your portfolios. 

  • To access the Global Scanner, navigate to Tools in the main navigation and click on Global scanner.
  • Use the Global Scanner to search for listed companies or Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) based on popular investment themes. 
  • Choose whether you would like to scan by stocks or scan by ETFs.
  • Click on save scan to save your scan.

  • To access the Virtual Portfolio, navigate to Tools in the main navigation and click on Virtual Portfolio.
  • With the Virtual Portfolio, you can build a simulated portfolio of shares, which allows you to track the performance of the securities you have added to help test your investment strategies and build confidence before investing in the actual market.
  • Create a new portfolio by clicking on Create new portfolio.
  • Click into your portfolio and start adding securities to your Virtual Portfolio.

  • To access the Estimated Dividend Calendar, navigate to Tools in the main navigation and click on Estimated Dividend Calendar.
  • The Estimated Dividend Calendar enables you to forecast your dividend income for the next 12 months. It uses the data in your current holdings prior to market open and combines this with market data and historical dividend information to calculate estimated upcoming dividends. Your estimated dividends are presented in AUD.
  • Please note, the Estimated Dividend Calendar is provided for general information purposes only and you should not rely on this information to make financial decisions as it is provided for illustrative purposes only.

To access nabtrade Academy, navigate to Tools in the main navigation and click on nabtrade Academy. nabtrade Academy is designed to help you learn more about investing with expert training and education.

Products

Under Products, you can apply for new trading accounts and the nabtrade High Interest Account.

Settings

Learn how to complete simple tasks yourself. Introducing My nabtrade, where you can manage your nabtrade profile, update your portfolio and accounts details, manage your security and shared access, communication preferences and subscriptions.  You can also access the Broker to Broker Transfer form and submit an Issuer Sponsored Conversion request.

In the new nabtrade platform, there will be no Trading PIN. Instead, you will need to enter a SMS security code to change your personal details.

Manage address details

  • To update your residential or mailing address, navigate to Settings in the main navigation.
  • Click on Profile.
  • Scroll down to Address details.
  • Once you have made the change and submitted your OTP, you will be asked if you would like to update your CHESS address with these new details. If you wish to proceed, select the account, and follow the prompts. This new address will be automatically submitted to CHESS.
  • For non-individual accounts, only the primary account holder will be prompted to update their CHESS address when updating their residential or mailing address.

  • To update addresses for company accounts, navigate to Settings in the main navigation.
  • Click on Portfolio and accounts.
  • Navigate to the Company details tab.

  • To update addresses for trust accounts, navigate to Settings in the main navigation.
  • Click on Portfolio and accounts.
  • Navigate to the Trust details tab.

Manage personal details

  • To set nicknames for your accounts, navigate to Settings in the main navigation.
  • Click on Portfolio and accounts.
  • If you have multiple portfolios (legal entities), use the portfolio switcher at the top of the page to navigate to the relevant portfolio.
  • Under Overview, you will see preferred portfolio name. Here you can name your portfolio.
  • Under Accounts, you will see a list of your cash and trading accounts. To set your preferred account name, click on the relevant account.
  • Under Account details, you will see preferred account name. Here you can name your account.

  • To check whether you have any outstanding actions on your account, navigate to Settings in the main navigation.
  • Click on Service notifications and actions.
  • Navigate to the Outstanding actions tab to view tasks that require your attention. 
  • This may include finalising your verification, supplying your Tax File Number (TFN), activating international trading or completing any transfers of shares to your nabtrade account. 

Manage account settings

  • To manage paid monthly subscriptions, navigate to Settings in the main navigation.
  • Click on Subscriptions.
  • Here you can activate and manage monthly subscriptions to advanced trading tools from IRESS ViewPoint and Morningstar Premium Research.

  • To manage additional trading services, navigate to Settings in the main navigation.
  • Click on Portfolio and accounts.
  • Navigate to the Permissions tab.
  • Here you can manage additional trading services on your nabtrade portfolio, such as activate and manage paid monthly subscriptions. You can also enable additional trading products and services on your trading account, such as enable Dividend Crediting, or activate Partly Paid Securities, Warrants and Exchange Traded Options trading.
  • Click on the desired action and follow the prompts.

  • To activate Dividend Crediting, navigate to Settings in the main navigation.
  • Click on Portfolio and accounts.
  • Navigate to the Permissions tab.
  • If you have multiple portfolios (legal entites), use the portfolio switcher at the top of the page to navigate to the relevant portfolio.
  • Scroll down to the relevant account and click on Dividend Crediting.
  • Follow the prompts and submit your application.
  • If there are other joint account holders, all account holders must approve the activation of Dividend Crediting. To approve the account, additional account holders must log into their own nabtrade profile and navigate to Settings > Service notifications and actions to complete the outstanding action. 
  • To turn off Dividend Crediting call us on 13 13 80.
